I feel like it has been forever since my last post and so much has happened since the last post. Hard to believe that Carter is 4 months (almost 4 1/2 months). We had is 4 month wellness check last week and he now weighs 16 lbs and is 26 inches long. He is growing so fast.
I am adjusting to life as a working mother and let me tell you it has not been easy. Carter is a stinker and still will not take a bottle at daycare. If we are lucky he will take 2 to 4 oz (the entire day). But after meeting with the pediatrician we know this is not enough. He told us just to continue trying & he feels confident that one day Carter will start taking a bottle. Easier said than done. Carter's weight is in the 75% but the doctor said that he is concerned that if he continues to not eat during the day at daycare he will start to lose weight which is not good. Therefore, we have to get him weighed weekly to monitor this. This past week he was 16 lbs 2 oz (up 2 oz from the previous week) but doctor said he should be gaining 7 oz per week the good news is he is not losing weight. We will continue to fight this battle. Luckily for me I have a very understanding boss and I am working part time until April.
This week has been very stressful for us to say the least. When we were at the doctor for Carter's weight check I asked the doctor to check Carter's ears to make sure that he didn't have an ear infection because the past couple of nights had been rough & he was starting to have a little cough & runny nose. They decided to check him for RSV which he ended up having. If you know anything about RSV it can be a very serious virus for an infant and you have to be very cautious. Since RSV is viral there is nothing that you can do for it but closely monitor baby's breathing & temp. It is also highly contagious so no daycare for Carter this past week. We had to go back to the doctor on Thursday to check Carter's oxygen levels which were great but they found out he has fluid in his lungs not good. Thank God his oxygen levels were good or we were told they would of admitted him into the hospital. They started Carter on antibiotics to help with the fluid in his lungs. We have just been keeping a close eye on him & he really is doing better. The doctor told us several times that for being a 4 month old with RSV he is doing amazing.
It seems to be one thing after another but welcome to parenthood right :)
Here is a list of highlights:
- Carter has his 2 bottom teeth
- He has officially mastered rolling over in both directions & as soon as you put him down on the ground he is rolling all over the place.
- Started rice cereal
- Slowly adjusting to daycare
- Sleeping in his own room now
- Grandma Wiebler came to visit last weekend and Jordan and I were able to go to the Vikings game
He's looking cuter than ever! I hope lil Carter starts to feel better soon, poor baby! I miss him!
